Resume Flow With Intention

Your resume needs to flow.
Even if you’ve done a lot of consulting work. Even if you’ve stepped out of the workforce for medical reasons or to raise kids.
The key is intention.
If your resume just reads like a chronological list of job descriptions, the wrong things stand out. The gaps stand out. The consulting stands out. The red flags stand out.
What should stand out are your skills and your value.
That means reframing how your experience is presented. Don’t just dump every role into a timeline and hope the recruiter connects the dots. Show them the story you want them to see.
Everything in your career should look like it had a purpose. Jobs don’t just “happen” to you. Each role, each consulting project, even time away should connect to the bigger story of what you bring to an employer today. Let the skills you built and the value of your overall skill set tell that larger story.
When your resume shows intent, hiring managers see direction. They see growth. And they see someone who’s in control of their career, not someone they have to guess about.
If your resume feels like a disconnected list instead of a clear story, it’s time to rethink your approach.
