Karpiak Consulting
Your experience got you this far. Make sure it gets you where you want to go next.
Whether you’re trying to move up, make more money, change direction, or simply get your job search moving again, how your experience is positioned matters.
Karpiak Consulting helps experienced professionals make sure their resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and job search strategies reflect the level they’re actually at and where they want to go next.
The more experience you have, the harder it can be to explain what makes you valuable.
Early in your career, your resume is usually pretty straightforward.
After 10, 15, or 20+ years, it probably isn’t.
You may have changed functions, taken on responsibilities your title never reflected, managed teams, led major projects, switched industries, gotten promoted, survived reorganizations, or become the person everyone relied on when something needed to get done.
You understand how all of that fits together because you lived it. A recruiter seeing your background for the first time doesn’t have that context. They have your resume. They have your LinkedIn profile. And they’re making decisions pretty quickly.
That’s where positioning matters.
This isn’t really about making your resume sound better.
The important part is figuring out what your experience needs to communicate for the roles you want now. I look at your background the same way I would if I were evaluating you as a recruiter:
-
Where are you trying to go?
-
Does your experience support that move?
-
Is the right work getting enough attention?
-
Is anything creating confusion or making you look like the wrong fit?
Then we fix what isn’t working.
For some clients, that means rebuilding the resume and LinkedIn profile from scratch. Others need help figuring out what they should be targeting or why their search isn’t getting traction. Sometimes the problem is how a career change, employment gap, title, or level of seniority is being interpreted.
The goal is simple: make it easier for hiring teams to understand why you make sense for what you want next.
Why I care about this work.
I’ve been recruiting since 2003, and I’ve seen firsthand how much one career move can change for someone.
A better role can put your career on a completely different path. It can finally get you paid what your experience is worth. Another $20,000, $30,000, or $50,000 a year can make a real difference in someone’s life.
That’s a big reason I built the career-services side of Karpiak Consulting. I like helping people get more out of the careers they’ve already spent years building.
Real career moves. Real results.
"I wanted to share the good news that I started my new job earlier this month. This was the first role I applied for using my new and improved resume that you provided. This role is just the type of role I was hoping to find for the next step in my career, and it came with an increase of 35% over my previous base salary. Thank you so much for highlighting my accomplishments and the value I bring to an organization. This in turn gave me the confidence needed to land this job. I would happily recommend your services!" - MG
Ways I can help.
Resume & LinkedIn Rewrites
If your current materials no longer reflect the level you’re at or the jobs you want, I can rebuild them around where you’re going next.
This isn’t a template-based writing service. I personally review your background, your goals, and the roles you’re pursuing, then decide what needs more attention, what needs less, and how the whole thing should come together.
Career & Job Search Coaching
Sometimes the resume isn’t the whole problem.
If you’re trying to move up, considering a career change, struggling with your search, preparing for interviews, working through an offer, or simply trying to figure out the smartest next move, we can talk through it together.
Resume & LinkedIn Reviews
If you’re comfortable making your own changes but want to know what a recruiter is actually seeing, I’ll review your materials and tell you what’s working, what may be hurting you, and what I’d change.
You work with me.
If you hire Karpiak Consulting, I’m the person doing the work.
Your resume isn’t handed off to a junior writer. Your strategy isn’t built from a generic checklist. There isn’t a team behind the scenes dropping your information into a template.
I’ve been recruiting for more than 20 years. You’re paying for that experience and for my judgment about how hiring teams are likely to interpret what you’ve done.
There are cheaper ways to get a resume written. That’s not what I’m trying to compete with.
Looking for outplacement support?
Karpiak Consulting also works with employers that want to provide career transition support to employees affected by layoffs or restructuring.
Services can include resume and LinkedIn support, career coaching, workshops, and customized outplacement programs.
We still recruit, too.
Karpiak Consulting operates an active recruiting practice focused on public accounting.
That matters because the career advice here isn’t theoretical. We’re still involved in hiring, reviewing candidates, and seeing how recruiting decisions actually get made.
That perspective carries into every career-services engagement.
